Hidden away amidst the tranquility of the Central Drakensberg is the unmistakable Champagne Sports Resort. With its spectacular views of Champagne Castle and Cathkin Peak, this gem of a hideaway’s unique combination of friendly staff, country club atmosphere and sumptuous accommodation make it the perfect holiday HQ. Surrounded by its own estate, it’s a smorgasbord of African wildlife. Whether you’re watching the falcons performing their aerial acrobatics in the blue skies above Falcon Ridge or the herds of magnificent Blesbok, a type of antelope, roaming the verdant 18-hole championship golf course, a shiver of excitement will run up your spine. You are in Africa!
The resort offers excellent sporting facilities, so you can shoot some hoops on the basketball key, go for an ace on the tennis court, or momentarily fly like one of those falcons on the trampoline. However, if you’d rather pit your wits against two of nature’s most cunning beasts, there are five dams stocked with bass and trout. It’s fishing like you’ve never experienced before.
Alternatively, you can always relax in the Wellness Centre and enjoy a treatment or two. And later, while you treat your palate to a delicious feast of food and wine, you can watch the rays of the setting sun bathe the land in gold. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the stress of the city drain away and an earthy, natural energy infuse your body and soul. Champagne Sports
