When you’ve had your fill of peace, superb views of the mountains and natural beauty (admittedly, there’s no such thing as enough), you’ll find a long list of wonderful things to do.
Tumble into the natural rock-hewn swimming pool. Take a hike. Try your hand at fly-fishing (you can get tackle from reception). Rainbow, triploid and brown trout abound. Play tennis. Sail or canoe on the Lake. Take a guided tour on horseback. Indulge in a treatment at the Health and Beauty Salon. Exercise your brain with a little outdoor chess. Play a round of golf on the chipping course. Speaking of chips, there’s nothing like bracing mountain air to titillate the appetite. The Lakeview Restaurant serves hearty country fare and is open daily for lunch and dinner. Castleburn. Like the birds, you’ll want to return.
This resort is not wheelchair friendly or suitable for people who had hip replacements and cannot walk uphill or downhill. All apartments have stairs and there are stairs from the parking area to the apartments as well. As a result, apartments are not suitable for the elderly and the walking impaired. Furthermore, the first-floor apartments are not suitable for toddlers. There is an amenities upkeep levy per chalet per week.
General: All complaints regarding resorts should be directed to the resorts itself and Timeshare Sentinel will not be held liable for any complaints regarding the quality of accommodation, services, facilities and any other complaints relevant to the resort. The providers of the accommodation on the Timeshare Sentinel website are independent bodies and not agents or employees of Timeshare Sentinel. Timeshare Sentinel will not refund in the event of double reservations, strike, force majeure (hurricanes, flooding, earthquake, etc.) or other causes beyond their direct control (disruptions in water supply, power outages etc.), and will have no responsibility for any additional expense,omissions, delays, re-routing or acts of any government or authority. The user shall be bound by the resort rules and the use agreement applicable between the member/shareholder and the Resort/Share block/Points Club. Timeshare Sentinel will not be held responsible for any incorrect information supplied with regards to the resort not due to Timeshare Sentinel’s negligence. The resort reserves the right to refuse admittance if the booking confirmation letter is not produced, or if the number of persons exceeds that shown on the confirmation letter/unit configuration. Persons allowed include children of all ages. Check-in will only be allowed on presentation of a valid confirmation letter and corresponding guest ID (Member Reservations & Guest Certificates). Timeshare Sentinel does not take responsibility for any accommodation purchased from a second or third party or incorrect information supplied by a second/third party. On selling of Timeshare Sentinel inventory is strictly prohibited which will result in termination of membership as well as cancellation of all reservations with full forfeiture of amounts paid.
Unit Assignment: The resort has the right to assign a different unit of the same occupancy to the one originally allocated. Should a unit number not appear on your reservation letter, one will be assigned to you by the resort on arrival.
Late Arrivals: If you expect to arrive late for check-in, please ensure you telephone the resort on the above number to make arrangements for the key prior to arriving.
Baby cots are available, but all requests must be made in advance.
There is no cellphone coverage in the units.
Only fly-fishing tackle may be used.
Castleburn has membership to the Underberg Country Club where guests can play golf.
Castleburn is in the southern Drakensberg and temperatures can reach minus 12 degrees in winter months! Please make sure you pack accordingly.
South Africans now need a passport to drive the full Sani Pass route, even if they have no intentions of travelling into Lesotho and although the pass is within South Africa.
